Sat 9th MARCH – GAMSTON (RETFORD) & LEICESTER

A little starter to the season with Gamston as a new airfield not previously visited as a group. Gamston for lunch before stopping at Leicester on the way back pm.

Wed 24th APRIL – RAF COSFORD.

The RAF Museum at Cosford is always worth a visit and weather permitting a bonus of being able to fly in. It will have been 9 years since our last group visit so a good opportunity for those who went before to see it again and for our newer members to experience this outstanding aviation museum.

Thurs 16th/Sat 18th/MAY – PARIS. PALACE OF VERSAILLES

A three day trip with the plan for an opportunity to spend a whole day visiting the magnificent Palace of Versailles outside Paris or on an individual basis travel into Paris itself for a day. On Thursday fly out to ABBEVILLE (LFOI) for lunch at the aero club before departing for ST CYR L’ECOLE (LFPZ) which is very close to Versailles but due to its location close to Paris will require some careful navigating, so some great flying experience. We will spend two nights in Versailles before departing on the Saturday to return to North Weald via CALAIS (LFAC)

Sat 22nd JUNE – EAST KIRKBY

Scuppered last year to to waterlogged ground another try at flying into East Kirky to visit the ‘Lincoln Aviation Heritage Centre’. Sitting beneath the RAF Coningsby stub this small museum is an excellent day out.

Sat 13th JULY – BIDFORD GLIDING DAY

The group had a very successful and enjoyable Gliding Day at Bicester way back in 2009 so its time for those who would like to have another go or for our newer members to experience another aspect of flying. The details have yet to be finalised but it will be a fly in to Bidford Gliding airfield in Warwickshire and then there will be an opportunity to experience a flight or possibly two in a glider. Catering will be included.

Fri 2nd/Sun 4th AUGUST – BOURGES

A whole day visit to the historic medieval town of Bourges in central France where its Cathedral is classified as a World Heritage Site. Out via Deauville for lunch before heading south for Borges. Two nights in Bourges before returning on the Sunday probably via Le Mans (tbc).

Sat 7st SEPTEMBER. – FARM STRIPS

Our ever popular day out which was a great success in 2018. A tour of five or six new farm strips with a group lunch at one of them. An interesting nav ex with almost certainly some new airfields for your log books.
Due to the stops and limitations on movements/space issues unfortunately I have to limit this one to the NWFG aircraft only

Sat 5th OCTOBER. – COMPTON ABBAS & POPHAM

To wrap up the season of day time fly outs a visit to one of my favourite airfields for lunch with a call into Popham on the way back.

Fri 1st NOVEMBER – ‘NIGHT FLY’ refresher

The early nights arrive again. An evening at Andrewsfield for supervised circuit refreshers with a short local if time allows. Unless of course we have lights at North Weald by then when things will be much easier and flexible, of course I said that last year!

Fri 15th NOVEMBER – ‘NIGHT FLY’ Destination tbc.

Dinner and then recovering to Andrewsfield or Southend.
Will be used as a fall back refresher night if required.

Fri 6th DECEMBER – ‘NIGHT FLY’

Stop tbc.

If you would like to take part in any of the above then please let me know. As usual I will book the aircraft and allocate the seats. I’m sure you will appreciate that spaces are limited on these trip and although I will accommodate as many members as possible there may be trips that are oversubscribed in which case I keep a reserve list. Places are allocated on a first come basis.
For those outside the NWFG with their own aircraft who would like to join us we would be delighted to have you along where possible.
