Fri 13th JANUARY – NIGHT FLY COVENTRY tbc

For our non-superstitious night owls. All being well weather wise, a trip to Coventry and back to Andrewsfield, or more likely Southend if the ground is too wet. Coventry now close at 18.00, so a quick turnaround there and back for something to eat. If its Andrewsfield it could be ‘Curry Night’, if not it’s McDonalds at Southend!

Fri 10th FEBRUARY- NIGHT FLY  tbc

Destination tbc

Sat 18th MARCH – GLOUCESTER & OXFORD

A little starter to the season with hard runways if the grass fields are still soggy. Lunch at Gloucester and then back across the Cotswolds to Oxford for afternoon tea before returning to North Weald.

Sat 22nd APRIL –  ST OMER / LA COUPOLE

We have been thwarted by weather trying to do this for the last two years so one final try! Out in the morning for a quick stop at Calais for customs.  Then down to St OMER to pick up cabs for the short drive to the huge and fascinating WW2 German ‘V2’ weapon bunker museum. Return via Calais again and back to North Weald for late afternoon.

Sat 6th MAY – VULCAN TOUR  – DONCASTER/SHEFFIELD AIRPORT

An organised tour of the Vulcan XH558 at its home base of Doncaster/Sheffield Airport.

Lunch at the airport and time permitting a stop at Fenland on the way back.

This will be a realtivly expensive trip as there will be landing fees plus mandatory handling for our aircraft. The tour will also have to be booked and paid for well in advance and may be limited on numbers. A great opportunity to get up close and find out about this iconic aircraft.

Fri 9th/Sat 10th/Sun 11th JUNE – COLMAR & NANCY

A delightful French duo, overnight in the very picturesque town of COLMAR south of Strasbourg before moving on to the World Heritage site of NANCY. Another overnight before returning to NW on Sunday afternoon. (other stops tbc)

Wed 26th/Thurs 27th/Fri 28th JULY –  RNAS CULDROSE

Although our 2016 planned visit was scuppered by appalling weather the 2015 trip was a great success and we are lucky to have another opportunity to visit RNAS Culdrose.

Depart North Weald for DUNKESWELL for lunch and then onto RNAS CULDROSE  in Cornwall to attend their ‘Air Day’ on the Thursday. Depart Friday morning with a trip to the Scilly Isles for lunch weather permitting. Return to North Weald via BODMIN. Both overnight stays will be at the Premier Inn Helston. (tbc subject to final Royal Navy approval)

Sat 19th AUGUST – FARM STRIPS

Our ever popular day out which was a great success in 2016 despite the wind. A tour of five or six new farm strips with a group lunch at one of them. An interesting nav ex with hopefully some new airfields for your log books.

Subject to the stops if there are limitations on movements or space issues I may have to limit this to the NWFG aircraft.

Sat 2nd SEPTEMBER -WELSH MOUNTAINS

Totally scuppered by the weather for the last two years so I’m trying a different month. An early start to hopefully take advantage of a lovely late summers day and some fantastic views of the Welsh Mountains. Out via WELSHPOOL then over the mountains to LLANBEDR for lunch before running south along Cardigan Bay to WEST WALES (Aberporth) and time allowing to PEMBURY, then home early evening.

Sat 14th OCTOBER – LEE ON SOLENT & ELSTREE

To wrap up the season of day time fly outs. Lunch at this delightful historic airfield. Return via Elstree. Very close to home but never visited.

Fri 3rd  NOVEMBER – ‘NIGHT FLY’ refresher

Its that time of year again! An evening at Andrewsfield for supervised circuit refreshers with a short local if time allows. Unless of course we have lights at North Weald by then when things will be much easier and flexible.

Fri 16th NOVEMBER – ‘NIGHT FLY’ – Destination tbc.

Dinner and then recovering to Andrewsfield.

Fri 1st DECEMBER – ‘NIGHT FLY’

Stop tbc.

If you would like to take part in any of the above then please let me know. As usual I will book the aircraft and allocate the seats. For those outside the NWFG with their own aircraft who would like to join us we would be delighted to have you along where possible.
